INTRODUCTION

     Boxing is one of the oldest sports. Two people fight each other with their fists until one of them is knocked unconscious. Boxing ring is a place where boxing matches take place. A Standard ring is between 16 and 25 feet (4.9 and 7.6 m) to a side between the ropes with another 2 feet (0.61 m) outside. Platform of the ring is generally 3 to 4 feet (0.91 to 1.2 m) from the ground with the posts rising around 5 feet (1.5 m). The ring has around 1 inch of padding covered by stretched canvas. The structure is rectangular or square in shape. In boxing ring, professional and amateur boxers can practice which will give them a real time fighting experience. Boxing ring comes with canvas, stools, ropes; EVA cushioned floors and marine grade floor boards. To get extra ruggedness, rings are made from solid steel construction.

TIPS TO AVOID INJURIES FOR BOXERS

    There are a few things that a boxer should not do inside the ring to prevent injury. Boxers may not do any of the following:

  • Strike below the belt
  • Kick
  • Heat butt
  • Bite ears
  • Grab onto the ropes
  • Poke the eyes with a thumb
  • Wrestle, grapple or hold him excessively

ABOUT BOXING MATCHES

    Doing any of these acts may result in a foul, which can cause deduction of points by the judges. Committing a foul repeatedly may lead to disqualification by the referee. A boxing match is divided into rounds of two or three minutes, with a one-minute rest period in between. Professional matches are 12 rounds at the championship level. Ten rounds or less may be scheduled at lower rankings. Amateur matches have only three, four or five rounds, with rounds lasting two minutes. Junior divisions can have even shorter rounds. Boxing gloves are made up of padded leather to protect your hands and reduce the damage done to an opponent.
