Light flyweight

Light flyweight

It also known as Light Flyweight (WBA/WBC) and Junior Flyweight (IBF/WBO), maximum weight for this division is 108 pounds (49 kg or 7 stone 10 lbs).

The light flyweight division was first recognized by the New York Walker Law in 1920 regulating identical weight divisions and was set at 109 pounds. When the National Boxing Association (NBA) was formed in 1921, it also renowned this weight class. However, on January 19, 1922, the NBA decided to withdraw acknowledgment of the light flyweight division. On December 31, 1929, the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) also abolished the light flyweight class. No champion had been crowned in this division prior to its abolition. Again introduced by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in 1975, covering all weights up to 108 lbs. Jockey Joe Dillon generally is considered the first World Champion, although he never fought for the title.

The light welterweight division is said to have been first formed by the New York Walker Law in 1920. The division was first predictable by Boxing Blade and also endorsed by the National Boxing Association (NBA) in 1922. This weight class can be divided into three distinct historical periods: 1922-1930, 1946-1959, and 1968-present.

The maximum weight for this division is 175 pounds (79.4 kg or 12˝ stone),one of the traditional eight divisions,The light heavyweight division was initially produced by Lou Houseman for his fighter Jack Root in 1899 or 1903. The weight limit was first established by the National Sporting Club (NSC) in 1909 as 12˝ stone or 175 pounds.
