Lightweight Championship – Uchiyama vs Parra on May 6
Japanese junior lightweight champ Takashi Uchiyama will formulate his seventh title defense when he faces Venezuelan Jaider Parra, former flyweight titleholder Lorenzo Parra on May 6 in Tokyo. “I wish to keep winning until my ultimate argument with another interim champ, Yuriorkis Gamboa,” said Uchiyama, who is coming off an eighth-round knockout of then-undefeated short-term champion Bryan Vasquez on Dec. 31

Gamboa, who won an interim belt earlier in December, is most likely headed to the lightweight separation and unlikely to face Uchiyama. In the co-feature, junior bantamweight champ Kohei Kono (28-7, 11 KOs), also from Japan, will make his first title defense when he square off with interim titlist and fixed challenger Liborio Solis (14-3-1, 7 KOs), who also happens to be from Venezuela.
