Light Heavyweight winner Nathan Cleverly expects victory over Shawn Hawk will earn him a big match showdown with Bernard Hopkins. Cleverly retained his title with an impressive eighth-round strike win over American Hawk in Los Angeles. Former multiple-weight world champ Hopkins has established he will return to the ring on 9th March in New York.

“There is a good possibility Bernard could fight Nathan,” Hopkins’ promoter Richard Schaefer told. “I’ve had some very exciting conversations with Nathan’s supporter Frank Warren and Bernard is open to that possibility. “Bernard will have to face one of the world champions and Nathan Cleverly is one of them – and Bernard says he doesn’t think about who is going to fight as long as they are a world champion.
