Former lightweight champion, Managua mayor Alexis Arguello found dead at his home
Alexis Arguello, world lightweight champion and Mayor of Managua,extreme at 130 pounds,was found dead at his home early on Wednesday.Nicaraguans took to the streets on Wednesday to pay final respects to a national hero,three time world Boxing championship Alexis Arguello,who was immortalized as ''The volatile Thin Man'' and the ''Gentleman of the Ring'',was found dead early on Wednesday morning at his Alexis Arguello home.He shot himself on head,which has been identified by investigators.Alexis Arguello, born-again Sandinista who had been once lived in Miami and became mayor of Managua after controversial 2008 municipal elections, when he was 57.he had been the Nicaragua ever created sports deity ,said that veteran Nicaraguan sportswriter Edgard Tijerino.some people are born as great poets or painters or thinkers, but Arguello was born to box. He was something special.A true Nicaraguan pride.he was attempting to become the first boxer to confine titles in four divisions.More than 20000 fans filled the Orange Bowl to see a brawl that many boxing experts called the best title attack of the decade and in South Florida boxing history.
Managua mayor,eventhough with modest background , He turned in to boxing gym at 14 , In the Boxing ring , the thin kid from Managua originate his calling and with only three years of training,he traveled to Costa Rica and gave out the perfect kid boxing after knocked out the national champ with six rounds.I beat the crap out of him,Arguello said in 2007 interview, delighted with his contagious Yogi Bear giggle. Arguello won first world kick boxing title at 22, and then won two more in different lightweight champion classes.Arguellos elegant talents,Boxing apparel,humble manner and natural charm also made him as a natural target for Nicaragua's rough-and-tumble political class.
